Having worried about working in an office due to not understanding Microsoft Office software, I was thrilled to learn about the creative features of PowerPoint. As a creative person, I had great fun learning how to insert videos, graphics, audio/music, transitions and animations.  My main takeaway was the power of the ‘Master Slide’. This allows you to set up the format for all the slides in the PowerPoint.  To create a Master Slide follow the following steps:

  1. On the View tab, click Slide Master. In Slide Master View, the slide master appears at the top of the thumbnail pane with related layouts beneath it.
  2. Click to select the master slide, then click Master Layout on the Slide Master tab.
  3. Make the updates that you want.
  4. To remove any built-in slide layouts that accompany the default slide master, in the slide thumbnail pane, right-click each slide layout that you want to delete, then click Delete Layout.
  5. To set the page orientation for all of the slides in your presentation, on the Slide Master tab, click Slide Orientation, then click either Portrait or Landscape.
  6. On the File tab, click Save As.
  7. In the File name box, type a file name.
  8. In the Save as type list, click PowerPoint Template, then click Save.
