If you are job-seeking, a career fair is a great place to meet employers and network.  Here are a few tips to help you make the most of your experience.

Before

  • Register ahead of time.
  • Dress appropriately for the positions you are looking for.
  • Research the employers who will be attending.
  • Bring multiple copies of your resume.
  • Practice your introduction, highlight your key skills, and be prepared
    for relevant questions.
  • Bring a notebook (or phone) to record the companies you talk to.

During

  • Break the ice by approaching the first vendor you see and present yourself with your polished introduction. Once you are comfortable, move on to your preferred employers.
  • Show energy, confidence and interest.
  • Go with an open mind.
  • Be prepared to network and exchange information.

Job Fair Etiquette

  • Avoid wearing perfume.
  • Don’t take excessive amounts of swag from the tables.
  • Don’t drink coffee right before you go in.
  • Bring a change of clothes in case of spills.
