I haven’t sent in a cover letter or a resume for several years, I was actually considering whether this letter of introduction was really needed. Years ago my cover letter basically reiterated what was on my resume and then, in closing,  thanked the employer for considering me.  During the cover letter workshop in EC I was surprised to see the difference this letter can make.  A cover letter gives me a chance to emphasize my excitement for the position, and what I know about the company. I am also able to fill in some of those job gaps and I can show a little bit of my personality. As someone who works in retail, my character is equally as important as my skills.  Now I understand that using my cover letter compliments my resume and I can demonstrate that I have additional customer-focused qualities that would make me a great fit to the position.
