The Experience Counts program helped me to understand the value of my transferable skills and this mindset enabled me to widen my list of potential jobs. I re-evaluated the positions I was applying for and expanded my search to include jobs where my skills matched the requirements. This new thinking meant including jobs I had never considered before. My experience had been in food service and that is what I was looking for, therefore, my skills included customer service, problem-solving, time management, and multi-tasking. These skills are required for retail, administration, reception work, and many other occupations. The number of jobs I was applying for greatly increased. I now clearly see that I am qualified to apply for many different jobs. I will be successful!
